Homeschooling has taught me many things. Not only has it taught me a little bit of Latin, grammar, debate, and random historical facts, but it has also shown me to have grace with myself and my children for those everyday frustrating moments. It has also taught me a LOT about love. It has grown that love more profound than I ever thought possible. It has taught me that love is more than just offering a hug on the way out the door to make it to school on time.
Here is what I love about homeschool:
-I love that I get to spend time with my girls ALL day. I don’t have a typical desk job, so I have the freedom to be able to structure product development, wedding design days, wedding flower set ups, client meetings, and conventions around them. In fact my daughter Rachel asked not too long ago why there were so many office oriented commercials on tv. She had no idea that most adults work 9-5 with a lunch break at noon.
-I love that I know where they are struggling and what their triumphs are within each subject of learning.
-I love that when they have successes in learning something, I can be proud that I am the one (or my husband, we split the teaching responsibilities) who helped them get there.
-I love that the homeschool process has enabled us to learn who our children are and their personalities on an entirely new level.
-I love that my children get to do practice running real-life businesses. They get to see entrepreneurialism at work every single day. Between my husband and I, we own 3 companies. Every day they get to see us grapple with customers, orders, flowers, and marketing. That’s a practical hands-on experience that will serve them well in their future careers.
– Above all, I love that my children get to do life with me. Rather than crossing paths at the dinner table or on the way to an extracurricular activity, we laugh, cry, try, and create all day long with each other. It truly defines us and shapes the family we are today.
Pick yours up today. You’ll love it.
